WhatsApp will allow us to hide our profile photo from specific contacts and show it to the rest

The rate of WhatsApp leaks does not stop and the truth is that what we see filtered does not take too long to spread to all users of the platform. A month ago, for example, we learned that the service run by Facebook was already working on expand privacy options allowing us, among other things, to choose specific users from whom to hide the time of our last connection.

With this new setting, we could avoid blocking certain users and simply hide part of our activity from them. For now, the adjustment is still in the testing phase but we have more information about it extracted from the app code by WABetaInfo. It is, more specifically, an adjustment that will allow us hide our profile picture from specific users.

We can add exceptions to all of our contacts

For a long time, WhatsApp has offered the most basic security options imaginable, but it has been remedying this for some time, and the next thing is to selectively hide information from contacts. Remember that, currently, we can choose to show certain information to all our contacts or to none, no middle ground.

The next thing will be to add exceptions to the current absolute rules of the platform when it comes to hiding information. WhatsApp is already testing a fourth option that will be added to those of “To all”, “My contacts” and “To nobody”, and it is that we will be able to choose “My contacts except “ and select who will continue without seeing this type of information.

WhatsApp Contacts

It is an extension of the current state privacy formula but taken to our profile picture, although it will reach more sites. According to what WABetaInfo tells us, this “My contacts, except” it will also work for the time of our last connection and for our profile information. So we can choose which contacts to keep in our agenda but without being able to access our information. You have to wait for this new setting to leave the testing phase and join the app circuit.
