WhatsApp lets us pin conversations to the top of the screen but, incomprehensibly, it still doesn’t support pin important messages in chats. Luckily, the feature is on its way and now we finally know what it’s going to look like.
When WhatsApp supports groups of up to 1,024 people, someone must have realized that they still it was not possible to pin important messages so they don’t get lost in the torrent of messages from an active group. The feature is in development and now we know it’s going to look pretty much the same as it does on Telegram.
Important messages, at hand
In WhatsApp we can already fix conversations so that they appear at the top of the chat list despite the fact that there are others who have received more recent messages. The same will also come to the messages in a chat.
WhatsApp is finally going to let us pin an important message in a chat or group, so that it is displayed above. We knew this possibility was on the way, but we didn’t know how pinned messages would be displayed in a chat. Now we have been able to see it, courtesy of WaBetaInfo.

There are not many surprises in this regard, because instead of reinventing the wheel, WhatsApp will add a top bar with the pinned message, in the conversation. By tapping on it, the chat history will jump directly to that specific message. The design is very similar to that of Telegram’s pinned messages, although without the X button to unpin it from the bar itself.
Fixing a message in WhatsApp will be as easy as selecting it and click on the thumbtack icon. In principle, everything indicates that one message can be set per conversation, although we will have to wait for its launch -the date of which we do not know- to be able to confirm it.
