The Government will create an app for freelancers: they will be able to manage the new quota for real income from their mobile

The social security contribution system will change for the self-employed, gradually, starting in 2023. The flat rate and the current tranches are finished, to move to a system for ‘real income’. In order to make it easier for the self-employed to calculate the new sections, the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migrations finalizes the creation of a mobile app to centralize procedures, according to El Periódico.

The objective of this app will be that the self-employed can calculate the new fees based on their ‘real’ income. In the same way, they may adjust it based on said income, to make it easier to adjust the installment month by month.

The Ministry of Social Security finalizes the creation of an app that will allow to manage the procedures of the self-employed, such as registering, canceling, adjusting Social Security benefits and more. A recurring paperwork management center, all in the form of a mobile application.

With this app we will be able to calculate the freelance quota that corresponds to us and change it according to the estimated income that we expect in our activity

The most prominent function will be be able to calculate in real time the freelance fee that will be paid each month, since this will depend from 2023 on the real income of the activity, with sections ranging from 90 to 1,220 euros per month. From the mobile app we can modify the fee based on the provisional estimate of income that we have, a procedure that can be carried out up to six times a year.

Thus, the app will make it possible to streamline several of the procedures that are currently carried out from the website of the Government’s electronic headquarters, being able to access a good part of them from the mobile phone. There is still no date for the arrival of the app, but its next launch is expected before the new trading tranches come into force.

In the same way, it is expected that the digital certificate, PIN code or accreditation of certain documentation will be necessary to enter the app. According to data from the Ministry of Labor and Social Economy, as of July there are more than 3,320,983 self-employed workers who can benefit from this new app.
