More options to rest from the maelstrom of notifications and alerts that Instagram can trigger: Meta includes a new silent mode with which to escape from the platform without having to delete the application or the account. By activating this mode all notifications are paused; while Instagram sends an automatic response to all direct messages that enter the account.
With privacy as an increasingly important element, companies as controversial in that field as it is Facebook Meta had to apply special effort to bring a more secure and private experience to their platforms. Instagram is the one that accumulates the most effort, especially a very specific segment of the public: young people. With the latest innovation, the application seeks to allow teenagers to take a breather without being bothered by others.

Preventing the application from notifying all interactions is possible by simply configuring the notifications, both in the app and on the phone itself. Now then: the new silent mode or Quiet Mode adds a very useful extra to breaks, since the mobile will automatically reply with a message to all privates that enter.
The new rest mode can be applied from the profile settings, there will appear the notice that the user has it activated. In this way, anyone will know that he does not wish to be disturbed; which will avoid, at least in theory, confusion.
Instagram silent mode works as follows:
- When you activate it, the user will stop receiving notifications. These will be canceled during the duration of the silent disconnection.
- Instagram will respond with an automated message to all the private ones that enter the user with the Quiet Mode active.
- Once silent mode is disabled, Instagram will show the user a summary with all the activities you missed during the disconnection.
- Instagram’s Quiet Mode is programmable: the application will allow to automate the disconnections so that the user does not have to be aware of doing it manually.
The new mode will begin to be active from today in different countries, for the moment not in Spain (United States, United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, Australia and New Zealand). Once these initial tests are finished, Meta will expand it to the rest of the countries where its service operates.
Personalization of recommendations and better parental control

Instagram’s silent mode isn’t the only new thing in the app: Meta announces new tools with which to manage recommendations and parental controls for teens.
With the first news, suggestion muting extends to platform posts: It will be possible to hide photos and videos that show fitness or recipe themes, for example. Instagram thus expands the filtering that was already available in private messages.
Finally, Instagram improves parental control so that parents find out everything that happens to their children. With the change, the parents will know what the minors of the application have changed: Instagram will notify you with a notification.
