Spotify has released the Mergers, playlists that allow you to combine the musical tastes of two people. Thanks to them, you can know what artists and songs you have in common with another person. And Spotify will make you a playlist specially dedicated for you.

Listening to streaming music is important for a music content platform, but it is not enough for users: apart from maintaining a large catalog, apps should offer recommendations and tools to discover new music. There Spotify has become strong, determined as it is to maintain its hegemony. Even with a large social component, as is the case with the latest novelty on the platform: Mergers. Like Goten and Trunks, but applied to music.

Personalized recommendations for two people

La Fusión is a combination of the musical tastes of two people to create a playlist of songs you both like. The key to the new functionality is discovering how similar two Spotify users are; while both get a playlist that, in theory, both users like equally. Quite a challenge, especially when it seems that there are no like-minded artists.

The Spotify Fusion, or “Blend” for its English term, is now available on mobile applications. It is suitable for both Premium users of the application as for those who do not pay to listen to music, you just need to know with whom you are going to cross the tastes and in

To create a new music list made with Fusion you must carry out the following steps:

  • Open the Spotify application and go to the search tab.
  • Look at the option “Specially for you“. Click there.
  • At the top you will see the “Music for two” area. Click on the “+” of “Create Fusion”.
  • Click on “Invitation” and choose the Spotify user with whom you want to cross your musical tastes to create a personalized list.

  • When the other person accepts the invitation, Spotify will show you the percentage of musical affinity that you maintain. It will also make you a combined playlist.
  • You can access the playlist from the “Music for two” section: all Fusions will be saved there.

Spotify will update the Fusion charts daily. Said lists can be saved to be listened to offline if you are a Premium user; and online and with ads if you don’t pay subscription. You can create as many Mergers as you want, you only need to invite Spotify users of your choice (or you can let them invite you).
