Last year Facebook introduced Facebook Shops or, in Spanish, Online Stores: a simple way for any business to create a store and start selling products on Facebook and Instagram. Now, also on WhatsApp.
In the initial announcement of Facebook Stores, the company already warned that the stores would reach Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, although without a specific date. Now, Facebook has made the integration of Facebook stores in WhatsApp.
Facebook stores, also on WhatsApp
According to Facebook, customizable online stores they have already garnered some 300 million visits and 1.2 million active stores per month. Any business can register their store, customize its appearance and add products to the catalog easily from their official website. Also, until June 2020, Facebook has eliminated fees for partners.
The idea is the following: create a store and make it visible on the different Facebook platforms. Until now, this meant Facebook itself and Instagram, to which WhatsApp joins now. According to Facebook, Facebook store owners in “select countries” will soon be able to display their products on WhatsApp.
Although the result is similar to what a business can create with WhatsApp Business – especially since the catalog was added – the difference is that Facebook stores they are also accessible from outside WhatsApp. That is, for some businesses it will mean not having to duplicate the work of listing the products in two different places.
Otherwise, the system will be similar. Customers can speak directly to the business via chat, in addition to consulting the product catalog and finalize the purchase directly from WhatsApp, in a more standard way than with existing WhatsApp Business stores.
