MIUI 12: how to know the RAM available in the multitasking of your Xiaomi

For some time, Xiaomi no longer shows the RAM that is available when we open multitasking. This was one of the best ways to know how much memory we had free, and to close apps from multitasking to see how the memory was being freed little by little.

We are going to teach you how can you get this function back, as there is a small tweak within MIUI 12 that allows you to see again how much RAM is free in your Xiaomi. Let’s see how to do it.

Free RAM in Xiaomi, a great ally

We usually tell you not to obsess over RAM. This will always tend to fill up and it’s not bad per se that is full. However, in Xiaomi (especially entry-level) we may need some free RAM to play games or use heavy apps, since MIUI consumes many resources.

Therefore, it is good to know how much RAM we have available at all times and how much RAM we save when closing apps. Fortunately, if we follow these simple steps we can bring RAM back to multitasking.

  • Open your Xiaomi settings
  • Click on ‘Home screen’
  • Now activate ‘Show memory status’

Ready, once you activate this option, open the multitasking of your Xiaomi and look at the top. From now on, you will know how much RAM you have available and what is the total memory of your device. We also recommend ROMs like Xiaomi.eu to keep more free RAM, something essential if we want to carry several heavy tasks at the same time.
