Therefore, Instagram will begin to ask for the date of birth through notices. If you don’t add it, you won’t be able to continue using Instagram from a certain moment.
Instagram wants to know your age

For these protections and changes to be effective, the application needs to know the age of the users.

At first you can ignore this warning, although from certain repetitions it will be mandatory fill it. Until Instagram knows your age, you will not be able to continue using the application.
The notice will appear in various places in the application. To begin with, posts that have been flagged as sensitive content They will require you to fill in your age to be able to see them, something that until now was not necessary. If you do not fill in the data, you will not be able to see it.
On the other hand, the application will start to show notices well visible on the home page, urging you to add your date of birth. You will be able to choose Not now, although from a certain moment you will have no choice but to fill in the data if you want to continue using Instagram.
Finally, the accounts that are linked to Facebook they will get the data directly from Facebook. You can see if this is your case by entering the Settings> Personal information, where you can also change this date manually if the notifications have not yet appeared.
Probably the most curious thing about it is that Facebook is developing systems to detect if you have lied at your age. As they comment on their blog, they will use artificial intelligence to determine the age of their users from data such as the “Happy Birthday” posts they have shared. If the calculation does not match the date given by the user, an additional verification will be requested.
