How to set a priority device on Google Home on both iOS and Android

One of the options that we find in Google Home, whether on iOS or Android, is to choose a device as a priority. If we have a Google Nest WiFi at home, this functionality allows to provide a faster connection of the Wi-Fi network to the device of your choice by give preference to other connected devices.

A function unknown to many that allows you to play with time periods of 1, 2, 4 or 8 hours during which the system reserves more bandwidth for that device, which translates to less buffering, less latency, and better download speed.

Give preference to a device

Priority 1

Set a device as a priority It is especially useful if, for example, we are going to watch a streaming movie on the television and use a high resolution, to play online, hold meetings with video calls or download large volumes of data.

Priority 2

The first step is none other than accessing the application “Google Home” either on iOS or Android and click on “Wifi”.

Among all “Devices” connected we must click on “Choose priority device”.

At that point we must select the device we want to give priority to and at the bottom, select how long we want to give priority to that device.

We can choose between 1, 2, 4 or 8 hours and we just have to click on “Save”. With this setting we give priority to any device on the network, whether it is connected wirelessly or by cable.

Keep in mind that only one device can be prioritized at a time and that doing so may limit the speed of the Wi-Fi connection of other devices.
