How to fix the error "This version of WhatsApp expired" on android

If you have the version whatsapp beta on android surely in recent days some notices have been appearing indicating that your version is out of date and you had to update before March 27. When you entered the Play Store you discovered that your version was the latest and that there was no more to download, so you left it be.

However, surely today you will have woken up with your account blocked and the inability to access or make a backup to reinstall the application. Do not panic because we are going to tell you how to solve it.

How to fix the latest WhatsApp error by keeping your conversations

Surely, the main fear you have is losing the last chats. You may not have automatic backups -something we recommend- or their schedule is not daily, so you will have lost a good number of messages. Don’t worry, you can get them back.

When you have entered WhatsApp you will have found a screen that encourages you to update with a message of “This version of WhatsApp expired on 27 Mar 2023“. You have the option to exit the test program or a big button to download. However, don’t click on either because it doesn’t work and the error will continue.

There is another little button that tells you that you can adjust the date, and we are going to focus on that to solve this error. Follow these steps, breathe because nothing has happened to your chats… and everything will be fine:

  • The first thing is that, click on the “date settings” link on that main WhatsApp screen.
  • It will take you to the device settings. Uncheck the automatic date option and mark an earlier date. In this case, on March 25.
  • Go to the mobile dashboard, start multitasking and close WhatsApp completely.
  • Check that at the top of your phone or in the toolbar it is March 25 and open WhatsApp again. You will see that it lets you use it normally.

You could stay here to continue using WhatsApp, but it would be somewhat uncomfortable and, really, it does not make sense because you are using the mobile with a date that is not the real one and that can cause some problems. We have simply done this in order to access WhatsApp and backup chats (You know, three dots at the top right, click on ‘Settings’, then on ‘Chats’ and look for the ‘Backup’ option to save everything to Drive).

When you have the copy ready, uninstall WhatsApp and download it again from the Play Store. In my case, it didn’t ask me to exit the beta, but if it does, simply go to the WhatsApp beta page and exit. And little more, start WhatsApp normally, restore the data from the backup and continue using the application.
