Exit WhatsApp groups without anyone knowing and other privacy improvements announced

Decide who can see you’re online

One of the features that will land shortly on WhatsApp, since it is not active at the moment, It has been appearing in some beta for some time and for users chosen by the application. It seems that WhatsApp has finally decided to release it for all users of the application and it is a new setting to decide who can see that we are online.

Until now we could decide who could see the time of our last connection between ‘Everyone’, ‘My contacts’, ‘My contacts except…’ and ‘No one’. Together with the adjustment of the last connection we will now have our online status and we can decide if we want everyone to be able to see us connected or if we want it to behave in the same way as the last connection. That is, limit who can see us connected and who cannot.

Leave

Another of the improvements partially solves one of WhatsApp’s biggest headaches, that of being put into groups. Since the app doesn’t seem to want us to prevent people from putting us in groups without our consent, now we can get out of them without anyone noticing. Beyond that we will stop being part of the list of members, of course. Leaving groups will not leave a trace. Goodbye to the message of this or that person left the group. A goodbye to the full-fledged French, but in a WhatsApp version.

Finally, WhatsApp will allow us to block the screenshots of the ephemeral photographs that we send. Currently, if we send one of those photos that disappear, the other user can take a screenshot. That is, it converts our temporary photo into a permanent capture. WhatsApp wants to solve this by blocking the captures. So what we send to disappear will disappear. Not bad.
