Everything you can do with the BBVA widget on mobile

Configuring the app and widget first

The first thing, although it seems obvious, is to have the BBVA application downloaded, which you can download on Google Play (Android) and App Store (iOS) for free. Once you have it and you have logged in with your credentials, you must activate the widget in the app settings. To do this, just click on the three lines at the top right, go to Settingthen to widget and make sure that the option activate widget is actually active.

Configure Bbva Widget

Once we have this, it’s time to add the widget to the home screen of our mobile. In a iPhone it is enough that we keep our finger pressed on an empty part of the screen so that it begins to ‘vibrate’, having to press on the + at the top left and then look for the BBVA widgets, available in two sizes. It should be noted that you must have iOS 14 or a later version.

The process in Android is similar, although depending on the Android version, the gesture to add the widget may vary. It could well be to keep your finger pressed on an empty part of the screen or make the gesture of moving away with two fingers (pincer style). Then you must look for the widgets section and locate the BBVA one there.

The information provided by the BBVA widget on Android and iPhone

Having already the widget on the screen of our mobile, we can see that it does not give excessive data, but it does give just enough to have a preview of our accounts and movements without having to enter the application. In the case of the large widget, both on Android and iOS, we can see the total money we have in all our accounts, as well as the latest movements and data on our savings/investment and financing.

Now there are some minor differences between iOS and Android widgets. And it is that, in the case of the iPhone, you can have a smaller widget (4×2) in which we see information about the money in accounts, savings/investment and financing. I mean, the same as in the big one, but without the list of the last movements made.

Although on Android it is an apparently more private widget, we must be careful, since viewing account data is extremely easy if the device is unlocked.

Another important difference is found with regarding the privacy of the widget. In iOS the data is shown without any type of censorship, while in Android we have to press an icon in the shape of an eye so that the amounts referring to money appear. In any case, in both it is fully visible just by having the mobile phone unlocked, so we must be careful if we lend the mobile to another person and we do not want them to know about this data.

As the last difference between the widgets of both systems, say that in Android we find certain shortcuts to access certain content of the application. We see that, just by clicking where it says it, we can access the global position, recommended products, transfers and ATMs. On iOS, on the other hand, it doesn’t matter where we click because the app will always open in the global position.

It can be said that data is not updated in real time, as reflected below the money we have in all accounts. In this section it puts the date and time in which the information was refreshed and on many occasions it requires us to enter and exit the app to see the updated data again.

Thus, and at least at the time of publishing this post, this is all that the Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria (yes, BBVA) widget offers us. It is not little really, since it gives a overview of the most important data, although it is true that perhaps some customization option could be implemented that allows us to configure what other data we want to see. It will be necessary to see if in the future the entity changes it.
