Delete the Instagram account changes sites, these steps will be necessary if you want to delete it forever or temporarily

A notice is appearing in the Instagram settings, as soon as you access the profile settings: all the procedures that were previously in the application will go to the Account Center, an organized section that aspires to unite all Meta services. And from that Account Center, the options to delete the Instagram account forever or for a limited time will also be offered.

The same thing happens in social networks as in insurance contracts, mobile rates and others: to enter there is no major problem, another thing very different is to leave. Instagram does not allow you to delete the account from the Android app, for example, quite the opposite of what happens on the iPhone: users of an Apple mobile have it easier. Of course, everything is going to change, since the Meta Account Center is going to assume all the responsibilities.

Message notifying the move of all settings to the Account Center

If you have entered the settings of your Instagram app, you will surely have found a notice at the top of the screen: «Account settings will change places». This is important not only to configure all the variables of the personal or company profile, it also concerns another very important option: deleting the Instagram account.

Until now, Instagram offered removal with very specific steps: you had to access some URLs on the platform to carry out the process; either a temporary deletion or a permanent deletion of the account. Soon said process will change due to the inclusion of the Account Center.

As Instagram itself warns:

“Soon the Account Center will be the main place where you can manage your account information and settings.”

Currently, Instagram has not changed the steps to access the deletion or deactivation of the profile, but everything will change as the Account Center acquires the configuration options proposed by Meta: Only from there can changes be made to the profile. The process will be as follows:

  • Access the Instagram Account Center and log in with your account data.
  • Once you’re logged in, you’ll see your Instagram account on the right of the screen and, if you’ve connected it to Facebook, that profile will also appear.

  • Go to the “Personal Data” section.
  • Click on «Account ownership and control» and then in «Deactivation or removal».
  • Select the account you want to remove forever or for a limited time, which Meta calls “deactivation.”
  • Click on “Delete account” or on “Deactivate account”, whatever you prefer to do with your profile.
  • Meta will hold your deactivated account for 30 days before permanently deleting it. You can activate it again in case you want to recover it: you just have to log in to it.

The process of deleting and deactivating the Instagram profile from the Account Center not yet fully active in settings, so it probably won’t show up yet. While Meta finishes rolling it out, it’s still possible to delete the Instagram account by following the old steps.
