WhatsApp communities: the groups of groups
A Community is a group related to a specific topic (school, company, a forum…) which, in turn, houses different groups that encompass more specific environments (study classes, departments, hobbies…). WhatsApp wants the messaging application not only to communicate with people, but also for each group of users to have their home with space to divide it into the rooms they want.
Communities are like forums within the WhatsApp application that allow all participants to organize themselves under different criteria. These communities have global administrators who are responsible for maintaining order, both at the community and group level. And all the organized groups under the community have a own space and ability to get to know the rest of the members of said community. Always without private data being displayed, such as the phone number.
Every time you create a community, the administrator decides which groups are integrated into it, you also have the option to open new groups explicitly for that community. In addition, WhatsApp includes a broadcast tool for administrators to distribute important communications that all groups should know.

The administrator can manage everything that is said in the community, who participates in it and whether the groups will be participatory (participants can comment) or only informative (only the administrator can send messages). The communities have their own icon in the lower menu of the iPhone and their own tab in the case of Android.

Communities have begun to be activated in WhatsApp for users in some countries, such as Argentina. In Spain they still do not appear, but we have been able to force the creation of Communities on Android through the WhatsApp code and using root access. Once created, these Communities still do not work as such, since they become normal groups: WhatsApp still needs to fully deploy the functionality.

It is to be expected that the WhatsApp Communities will land in the coming days or weeks in all applications. In principle without having to download a specific version: the activation of the new groups of groups can be done from the WhatsApp servers.
