Little by little different platforms are taking advantage of one of the improvements that came with iOS 15.1. Now it is Disney + that has been updated to allow use with its SharePlay application, the option devised by Apple to share your screen with up to 32 people at the same time.
SharePlay is not exclusive to iOS and can also be used on iPadOS and tvOS with version 15.1. Disney + is the latest application that offers compatibility. It is incorporated into a list with examples of all kinds that we will now review and in passing we will see how to use SharePlay on the iPhone and on the rest of iOS devices.
How to use SharePlay
SharePlay allows Apple users share content during a FaceTime call with up to 32 people. SharePlay is compatible with Apple TV +, Apple Music and Apple Fitness + as Apple’s own applications, but also with a good handful of platforms and applications. Thanks to the option of sharing screen, users can browse a website together, watch a series or a movie together, view photos, listen to music … SharePlay is included in the update of iOS 15.1, iPadOS 15.1 and tvOS 15.1.
When sharing screen and video content with SharePlay Playback controls are displayed so that all the participants of the FaceTime call can play, pause or fast-forward the content in a synchronized way.
Also, audio adjusts when someone on the FaceTime call speaks to facilitate chatting during playback of content. Each participant of the SharePlay session streams the content directly from the corresponding app installed on their device.
To be able to use SharePlay on any of the supported platforms we have to perform these steps:
- Start a call on FaceTime.
- Once inside the call and when we see the contact on the call, we enter the compatible app.
- We start to play the content.
- When asked, we choose what we want to share the content through SharePlay.
- The other person will receive a invitation to use SharePlay.
- From there the shared reproduction begins.
SharePlay Compatible Applications
SharePlay is compatible with Apple TV +, Apple Music or Apple Fitness + as Apple’s own applications. But also can be used with a number of applications available on the App Store. Applications to keep fit, but also to watch content, or to learn together.
